About Massage in Miami
Damian studied massage at the Florida College of Natural Health in Miami where he graduated in November of 97. He continued at Florida College to study advanced massage techniques in a 300 hr medical massage course offered for graduate students. At the time he began working at the Doral Golf Resort and Spa. During the next four years he averaged five massages a day, giving Swedish, deep tissue and aromatherapy massages. This gave him the experience he sought, and helped him to build on his understanding of the body. In October of 2001 he left Doral to join the team at TanSolaire, a spa that was opening in Coconut Grove. He worked at TanSolaire for almost six years before deciding, in June of 2007, to venture out on his own.
Damian has been a professional member of AMTA (American Massage Therapy Association), FSMTA (Florida State Massage Therapy Association), and of the International Massage Association. He offers out-call massage services as far north as Pembroke Pines, Hollywood, Miramar, and Weston, and as far south as Kendall, Pinecrest, Coconut Grove and Key Biscayne. Certain areas of South beach are also within his reach.
In 2008 he established Total Massage Solutions Inc., with a vision to expand his services for those seeking massage as well as providing much needed services for those who give it. Total Massage solutions’ structure consists of two main components:
- Personalized high quality out-call massage therapy in the Miami-Dade and Broward areas.
- An online community dedicated to the expansion in the public awareness of the benefits, different styles, and availability of massage, as well as, an online portal for massage therapists to acquire resources for their practice.
Our Therapy
Damian’s massage style is composed of a culmination of different elements coming together to form one complete relaxing experience. Throughout the twelve plus years that he has practiced massage he has attended many workshops and picked up an array of different techniques from several styles of massage. Added to the experience gained from working for several years at both at a world class spa, and a smaller local day spa. Along with his own private clientele he has developed a unique way of working that must be experienced to fully He brings everything that you would need to enjoy a completely relaxing massage. You can expect him to arrive on time, well groomed, in clean and professional attire. Having a professional background he is efficient and courteous in manner and style. But it’s the combination of specifically designed music, and slow rhythmic massage, expressed with his deep passion and pride in the work that brings forth a feeling of intense well being and deep relaxation. He likes to think of massage as an art rather than a science. And as in any art, it’s the whole composition that he strives to perfect.
Our Massage Style
Many clients have asked what style is used on them. This is because Damian combines elements from many different styles into one complete body work. In general, his goal is to soothe and relax the mind and body while eliminating toxins and the conditions of held tension from the muscles. In other words, make you feel really good during and after the massage. By combining deep tissue techniques with a rhythm of gentle rocking, waves of soothing effleurage and petrissage strokes, and utilizing assisted stretching, he has developed a unique style that leads even the most stressed clients to a state of euphoric drowsiness, while loosening tense muscles, and increasing the body’s flexibility.
What we do Differently
We have read surveys in magazines that report the number one reason people are unsatisfied by a massage, results from the therapist using either too much or not enough pressure. This can be avoided by discussing your needs with your therapist, before starting the session. As a rule, before Damian begins a session, he first asks what your massage experiences have been. This gives him a good idea of what you like and what your needs are. Second, he asks about medical concerns, history and such. There are a few medical conditions (contraindications), for which massage is not recommended, so he needs to find out if you have such an existing condition. Once he has all this information, he can then tailor the massage specifically for you. He begins the session, only after being satisfied that he is aware of your needs. We believe that if a therapist knows what the client prefers from his massage, then the only other requirement for a great massage, besides knowledge and experience, is for the therapist to have a passion for the art of massage. We believe it is this passion and desire to exceed his clients’ expectations that makes his massage so successful.
Draping Policy
When getting their first massage, many people are uncertain as to what to expect. Clothing is one of the things that can cause much confusion. Clothing may or may not be worn depending on the type of treatment the person is getting. For instance in a Shiatsu or Thai massage, the person usually lies on a mat fully clothed in loose fitting comfortable attire. However, for massages that involve the use of oils such as Swedish, deep tissue, aromatherapy and other such modalities, little or no clothing is used. How much clothing is desired? Always the clients comfort level is respected, but to facilitate continuity to the massage, the least amount of clothing worn the better. Most people remove all items of clothing, but it is alright for men to leave on their briefs and women their panties.
Before the massage begins, you are given privacy to undress and get on the table. It is our policy to provide a full length sheet for you to cover yourself. Damian always places the sheet on the table and explains this to you.
In Florida, as well as most states that require licensure, it is a therapist's responsibility to provide full draping and inform a client on how to use it. A Therapist can never undrape a client's private areas unless the person specifically indicates a preference or reason to be undraped during the therapy. This is not only the law in Florida; it is also an ethical standard.
