About Massage in Miami

I studied massage at the Florida College of Natural Health in Miami were I graduated in November of 97. I continued at Florida College to study advanced massage techniques in a 300 hr medical massage course offered for graduate students. At the time I began working at the Doral Golf Resort and Spa. During the next four years I averaged five massages a day, giving Swedish, deep tissue and aromatherapy massages. This gave me the experience I sought, and helped me to build on my understanding of the body. In October of 2001 I left Doral for a new spa, TanSolaire, which was opening in Coconut Grove. I worked at TanSolaire for almost six years before deciding in June of 2007 to venture out on my own. Currently I dedicate myself primarily to my personal massage buisness and updating this web site. I have been a professional member of AMTA (American Massage Therapy Association), and of the FSMTA (Florida State Massage Therapy Association). Currently a professional member of the International Massage Association. I offer services as far north as Pembroke Pines, Hollywood, Miramar, and Weston, as far south as Kendall, Pinecrest, and to the east Key Biscayne and South Beach.

My Therapy

I approach my massage session as a culmination of different elements coming together to form one complete relaxing experience. I bring everything that you would need with me. You can expect me to arrive on time, well groomed, in clean and professional attire. Having a professional background I am efficient and courteous in manner and style. But it’s the combination of specifically designed music, and slow rhythmic massage, expressed with a deep passion and pride in the work that brings forth a feeling of intense well being and deep relaxation. I like to think of massage as an art rather than a science.  And as in any art, it’s the whole composition that I strive to perfect.

My Massage Style

Many clients have asked me what style I used on them. This is because I combine elements from many different styles into one complete body work. In general, my goal is to soothe and relax the mind and body while eliminating toxins and the conditions of held tension from the muscles .  In other words, make you feel really really good. By combining deep tissue techniques with a rhythm of gentle rocking, waves of soothing effleurage and petrissage strokes, and utilizing assisted stretching, I have developed a unique style that leads even the most tense clients to a state of euphoric drowsiness while loosening tense muscles and increasing the body’s flexibility.

What I do Differently

I have read surveys in magazines that report the number one reason people are unsatisfied by a massage results from the therapist using either too much pressure or not enough. This can be avoided by discussing your needs with your therapist, before starting the session. As a rule, before I begin a session, I first ask what your massage experiences have been. This gives me a good idea of what you like and what your needs are. Second, I ask about medical concerns, history and such.  There are a few medical conditions (contraindications)for which massage is not recommended, so I need to find out if you have such an existing condition. Once I have all this information, I can then tailor the massage specifically for you. Only after I am satisfied that I am aware of your needs do I begin the session. If a therapist knows what the client prefers from his massage, then the only other requirement is that he/she have a passion for the art of massage. I believe its this passion and desire to exceed my clients expectations that makes my massage so successful.

Draping Policy

When getting their first massage, many people are uncertain as to what to expect. Clothing is one of the things that causes much confusion. Clothing may or may not be worn depending on the type of treatment the person is getting. For instance in a Shiatsu or Thai massage, the person usually lies on a mat fully clothed in loose fitting comfortable attire. However, for massages that involve the use of oils such as Swedish, deep tissue, aromatherapy and other such modalities, little or no clothing is used. How much clothing is desired? Always the clients comfort level is respected, but to facilitate a continuity to the massage, the least amount of clothing worn the better. Most people remove all items of clothing, but it is alright for men to leave on their briefs and women their panties. That is not to say that a person will be undressing in front of their therapist. My policy is to leave the room and allow the client to undress in privacy. I always set up the table with a large bath sheet on top and inform the client to cover themselves with it. Please understand, it is a therapist's responsibility to provide full draping and inform a client on how to use it. A Therapist can never undrape a client's private areas unless the person specifically indicates a preference or reason to be undraped during the therapy.
